Vintage Sears Christmas Ads from the
1950s, 1960s (and a couple of 70s!), Pt. VI

Here's a few more newspaper ads I've come across for some vintage Silvertonium.
Some holiday season ads, some not... but all a great window into the past of Sears and Silvertone!

Awesomeness from sunny Florida with the Miami Daily News of December 1958. Never appearing in any Sears catalog, here's a Supro/National built guitar that we've never been able to suss out the model number of. The distinctive shape of the headstock and the pickguard design are apparent even in this poor reproduction of the ad sketch. As mysterious as this model line has been, it's nice to at least have a definite window of availability for them. Looks like a 605 to its right.

Here are examples of both the single- and double-pickup models.

Here's a terrific ad from the Miami Sunday News the week before Christmas in 1956. It features the rare Dano-built 1377 proto-U guitar, a Dano-built 1331 amp, and a Kay-made archtop. Thank you , Santa!

From the Gadsden, Alabama Times of December 1965 comes this Entertainment extravaganza... weird guitar, though... ought to be a 604, but it sure doesn't look like one.

Just because I ran across it, I thought I'd treat you to this ad featuring one of the greatest guitar salesman in history, Elvis Presley, with his first movie just about to open the week of November 18, 1956. This is another treat from the Miami Daily News, which proved to be a real treasure trove of ads.

Here's a 'Streamline' paddle-head Kay-built Silvertone 1413 from the 'Teen Times' section of the Williamson West Virginia Daily News from October 1966.

The Greater Toledo area had a great sale on the late-era Harmony-built 1477 and a classic Dano-built 1482 amp advertised in The Toledo Blade in the (almost) Spring of 1968.
