The 1475 was the end of the line for the
Silvertone name as applied to musical instruments. Sears was winding down its
use of the name in the catalog, and by 1969,
you'd likely as not get a guitar with a 'Space
Dot,' a block logo, or maybe a last,
lovely Silvertone script logo from the remaining stock of various guitars
offered in sales & supplements.

The 1475
was a well-appointed and nicely-built
Japanese-made (looks like it's related to the
Univox
'Coily') clone of the well-known Gretsch 'Country Gentleman'
6122. George
Harrison famously played one on the first Sullivan appearances and set the look for guitarists in the 60s. With
its goldtone trim, roller bridge, inlaid whammy, side fret markers, versatile
controls, and neat, tight fit and
finish, the Matsumoku-built 1475 showed that a Japanese-made guitar need not be a cheesy affair.
