The 620 was the last jumbo-size Kay flattop
acoustic that Sears offered. The
618 model was quite popular, and the 620
really just kind of played 'clean up' behind it, as it was only available for
one year, from 1958-1959.

The 620 was the upgraded replacement for the
attractive, successful 618, carrying on the distinctive look of that Kay-made
J-200 'knock-off' with a few refinements that were already in place on the
Kay-branded series of this guitar. Block neck markers, a fancier inlaid
headstock with a more contemporary script logo, and a much smaller window of
availability make the 620 a rarer find than the 618. The immediate tipoff to a
620 is, of course, the big block fret marker inlays.
