The 290 is a rare bird; only available for a year, it's one of the last
of the 2XX model number series instruments and seldom seen on the collector's
market today. It was also part of the first group of Silvertone archtops from our friends at Kay.

The Silvertone 290
model was one of the first 'pure' Silvertone guitars offered by Sears. That is,
no 'title,' with a simple logo headstock. Spec'd with a carved spruce top and
maple back & sides, this blond archtop was set apart by its translucent
note-decorated pickguard (unique in the entire Silvertone line) and some sweet
diamond fret markers at the 3rd, 7th and 12th positions.
