The collectors market for
everything Silvertone has exploded over the past several years, thanks to the
'Net, and of course, the auction site
. People who
would otherwise have to rely on chance, the classifieds or a good pawn or thrift
shop to procure a choice (or
any) Silvertone can now pretty much shop at will online. Of course, ebay has
been one of the greatest movers of Silvertone guitars, amps, parts, radios,
records, phonographs... pretty much any and everything Silvertone has been (and
is) available there.
If I had a nickel
for every email that asked that question...
'What's it worth?'
The real question is 'how badly does someone want it?' I've seen rare
guitars and amps go for nothing (or next to it), while garden-variety items go
out of sight. It's all about that great human frailty; desire.
If the bidder up against you just has to have that
mint-condition 1451 with amp-in-case and they've got an unlimited budget, then
you're out of luck. But, if they'll only go to $475 on it, and you bite your lip
and bid $477.50, then that's what it's worth...
to you. At that given time, for that particular item, with the bidders
involved.
