The 'Thin Twin' was so named because of its
double 'blade' pickups, tips of a giant magnet and coil iceberg. Also
nicknamed the 'Jimmy Reed' model because of its association with the seminal
bluesman. Howlin' Wolf's guitarist, Hubert Sumlin, has also been seen workin'
this axe, among others.

The 1381 is a terrific guitar from our friends at Kay.
It's a Les Paulâ„¢-ish bodied maple and mahogany semi-solid axe, sporting some fine
appointments in its block neck markers and decorated pickguard. This addition to the Silvertone line is
still a much sought-after instrument. To my eye,
the Silvertone-branded version of this guitar was prettier than its Kay
counterpart, which featured a faux-tortoiseshell pickguard with no adornment.
Introduced 1954
Changed to the model 1369 in 1957
Retired early 1958
