The 1970s were not the
best of times in Silvertone World. For one thing, the name Silvertone, in use
by Sears since around 1915, was virtually no more. No guitars, amps, TVs,
radios, hearing aids, record players, batteries, or any other musical,
electronics or entertainment or utility apparatus bore the name Silvertone very
far into the 70s. There were a few holdovers in the transition, of course, but
the Silvertone line as we knew it was dead.
So, here they are, the Sears amps from the late, late 60s and the early 70s.
The Danelectro era was over. The new amp line that came along
to replace the decades of Dano style and sound was a bit generic, the Silvertone
name has all but disappeared, and Sears amps and guitars just weren't as fun and funky as they had been
from the 40s through the 60s.
I dunno, kinda looks like Easter Island over there... without the friendly
faces.
