The 1950s was a
golden era in America in cars, music, and of course, Silvertone amplifiers and
instruments. The (mostly) Danelectro-made amplifiers of the years 1950-1960 are
now highly sought after for their unique tone, their funky style and their
supreme coolness. Will ya look at that crowd to the left? More than 20 separate amp
designs!
Maybe 'back then' they were popular because you could obtain them
inexpensively just so you could prove that you deserved a Fender, Gibson,
Gretsch or other 'better' amp; nowadays they are sought after for their
intelligent, economical engineering, classic styling, and a sound that only
hot tubes can generate.
Got Silvertone?
The first FULL line of Danelectro designed and manufactured amps, sharing a similar and pretty funky look - alligator and tweed.
A
mixed
bag.
We say goodbye to the 50s with these
space-age amps.
The classic look of these Silvertone amps was hard to beat. My favorite era, and (to me) the coolest look.
