The 1459... well, here's some weirdness for you. The
1459, introduced in the Spring /Summer 1968 catalog, was a small, plain,
two-knobbed. dual-input box that pumped out a whopping 3 watts of power. It
looked a lot like the 1420, which came along the next year, in F/W 1969. But...
there was also a 1459 that was a re-branded 1432, available in 1960.
Since discovering this,
I'm working on new pages for BOTH amps.
This minimally powered tube amp was the beginning of the end of Silvertone as a
Sears musical instrument brand. The resemblance of this amp to a tombstone was certainly
prophetic.
